't tell us a whole lot. we'll have to 2008 to see how much information they release today. we know there are two sections of a big pipeline in san jose that are scheduled to be repaired or under review to be scheduled for repair. >> reporter: why those repairs need to take praise, we don't know that. mayor reed didn't have any more details on what about those section of pipelines that are so concerning to pg&e. but keep in mind, san bruno's city manager has already told the mercury news that their city did not make the list of high-risk pipeline. even the section that exploded is not considered at risk. so the big question is what caused the san bruno explosion? because obviously that will shed a lot of light of what that means in terms of the pipeline, pg&e is expecting to release the list today and everyone is hoping for a little more information on where we go from here. custody, -- claudine wong, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. >>> the coroner is expected to update the official death toll to 7. the bullis announced they lost three loved ones. federal investigators have deter

telling us, there are reports that there is one more confirmed dead bringing the death toll up to four. we talked about the process of going through the neighborhood and seeing how many more victims there are. they found another victim. at this point, what we are doing is monitoring the situation out here. you are looking at a view of the smoke that rises. any time you see white smoke above an area, firefighters say that's a good thing better than black smoke indicating that the fire is getting going. we are expecting that they made progress on the fire fight. we look from above at the neighborhood in front of us where there is still smoke coming up from the large portion of the neighborhood. no visible flames from where we were able to look at. no visible signs of damage. so we know the damage area is further from where we are. the latest out here is that they have confirmed one more dead bringing the toll to four in this fire. this is just beginning. we are checking a lot of updates. we will continue to follow that and bring you the latest information. claudine wong, ktvu channel 2 news.

that would apply for the one set on wednesday. >> understate law the department of crepes said it would use a three-drug procedure in regulations they spent years creating. those regulations have force of law and so judge fogel is saying you can either have your rights unthe constitution protected and understate law protected but not both. it's completely unfair. >> reporter: the same judge, judge jeremy fogel, was the one who halted executions in california in 2006. it claimed procedures for the three drug cocktail aimed at killing the condemned was not clear, and the death chamber was too dimly lit to monitor the procedure. but the judge is now allowing the executions to proceed because of a supreme court ruling in 2008 which upheld lethal injections in the state of kentucky and because ohio and washington state have been using 1-drug executions for the past year with no reported problems. that even as fogel presides over a lawsuit challenging the same procedure. brown has filed an appeal with the ninth circuit court. what they plan to do if all stays of execution fail. craig devro, san q

federal investigators this morning and joins you now -- and joins us now with this live report. >> reporter: good morning, tori. yes, it's been almost a week since this fireball and explosion and fire here in san bruno. there are still so many questions. the ntsb is out here this morning. we're getting more information about where this investigation is headed. key among the question is how did this start, obviously and why did it burn so long? let's talk about the cause. the ntsb has been asking for anyone to come forward if they smelled gas in the days leading up to the explosion. there have been about 90 e- mails sent to the ntsb. but the ntsb said they only had one person who smelled gas and that was two or three weeks before this happened. if they didn't smell gas, that would be a clue. >> if people smell gas in advance, that suggests a failure, where gas is coming out and people smell it. that's a different kind of failure than a catastrophic failure. that would help us determine the cause of this explosion. that's why that's so crucial to us. >> reporter: there's also the

to the environmental director about this task. and she joins us live. good morning, claudine. >> reporter: yes, i just spoke with dean peterson, who is the director of the environmental health division of the county. he wants to get crews back to work. i want you to take a look behind me. we are on clairemont and vermont. and you can see the devastation throughout here. work is going really three home sites at a time. so you can see kind of in distance where there is an excavator and bulldozer over there. we assume that that's where some of the work will be going on. they are going piece by piece back here. and that process does continue. this morning, dean peterson told me that operations yesterday, which was the first day of demolition, went well. the first to actually finish yesterday as planned. but they are expected to be cleared up sometime this morning. and crews move onto the next three. there were more than three dozen homes destroyed. and so far, the county has been given the go-ahead to clear the sites. health concerns, a big issue out here. but the air is being monitored, both right next t

was shot and spoke to a man who lives across the street. he told us he heard 30 shots from what he thought was an assault rifle. and says he hit the ground immediately. it was around 10:30 last night in the 1200 block of 87th avenue. after getting up and making his way outside, he saw family members running out of that house, screaming, they shot mama. police are not releasing any information about the woman. but the neighbor told us, he thought she was in her 50s, living with her large family, along 87th avenue. the man said he had just moved into the neighborhood and hadn't had any problems. so this scared him. paramedics did take the woman to the hospital. and as i mentioned, she's in critical condition. we're live at police headquarters this morning. notice arrests so far. but again, we are waiting for an update from police. reporting live, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> police in oakland are looking for two other leads. they both took place about 9:45 last night. and one of the shootings was deadly. the fatal shooting happened near a gunfight at 45th and international. polic
